WASHINGTON (AP) - Police in Washington are identifying two people killed in shootings Monday afternoon in Washington.

Police said in statements Tuesday that 45-year-old Tracey Louise Cooper and 22-year-old Tayvon Devonte Cummings died. Both were from southeast Washington.

In addition to Cooper and Cummings, three other people were wounded in a total of five shootings Monday afternoon. Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier said Monday that the two fatal shootings may be connected.

Lanier said police were called to the first shooting - a homicide - about 1 p.m. and were called to the second shooting while still on that scene. Two other shootings came in about the same time. The last shooting - the second homicide - came in about 30 minutes later.

The three people who were wounded were expected to survive.
