SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) - Police in San Bernardino say officers shot and critically wounded an armed suspect after a car chase through the city.
Lt. Richard Lawhead says the pursuit began Sunday afternoon when police responded to a report of domestic violence.
Lawhead says after the male suspect eventually pulled over, he got out of his car holding a handgun and initially put the weapon to his head.
At some point a sheriff’s deputy and a police officer opened fire. Lawhead says it wasn’t immediately clear what led authorities to fire.
The Los Angeles Times reports (https://lat.ms/1qnj8J2) the man, who was not named, was hospitalized in critical condition.
No officers were hurt.
