SEBRING, Fla. (AP) - Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death of a Polk County Jail inmate.

Officials said in a news release that 65-year-old Keith Harrison was found unresponsive in a medical dorm at the jail on Sunday morning. Medical staff started CPR and called for paramedics.

Harrison was taken to Florida Hospital Heartland in Sebring, where he could not be revived.

According to the news release, Harrison had extensive pre-existing medical history. An autopsy will be performed.

Officials say he was arrested May 5 on a violation of parole for failing to register as a sex offender.

An investigation is underway, which is standard procedure when an inmate dies.
