SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. (AP) - Officials say a mother and her newborn are doing well thanks to a state trooper and emergency workers who helped clear the route to the hospital after she got stranded in traffic on the Tappan Zee Bridge.
The Journal News reports (https://on.cpsj.com/1TV7UGe ) Ashley Larkin and her husband were heading to the hospital Friday when a tractor-trailer overturned, shutting down all lanes on the bridge.
A state trooper following behind them noticed the couple was in distress and helped Larkin’s husband carry her over the bridge’s center barrier.
Emergency workers cleared a path so a state patrol car could rush her to an ambulance.
Maudie Larkin was born as the ambulance arrived at a hospital in Sleepy Hollow.
No one was hurt in the truck accident.
