MARYVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The 35th annual Smoky Mountain Scottish Festival and Games kicks off this weekend at Maryville College.

It’s the sixth year for the event at the school.

Organizers say the weekend gives guests a chance to travel back in time to experience Celtic music and dancing, genealogical research, sheep dog demonstrations and hard-to-find Celtic food and merchandise. Early buy discounts end Thursday.

The event starts Friday night with a gala at the Clayton Center and continues through Sunday.

Organizers say revenue raised at the event funds two $250 dance scholarships each year, and 10 percent of the revenue surplus goes to Maryville College for scholarships.
