PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - One of the participants in last year’s Tall Ships Portland festival is returning.

The Spanish ship El Galeon is scheduled to tie up at Maine Wharf on the Tuesday following Memorial Day Weekend. It’ll stay through June 13.

El Galeon is a replica of a Colonial-era Spanish galleon that sailed for the Spanish crown from the 16th through the 18th centuries in search of trade routes.

The ship, based in Sevilla, Spain, was launched in 2009. It boasts some modern materials, like a fiberglass hull, to reduce maintenance.
