HAVERHILL, Mass. (AP) - Police have charged a 16-year-old boy with shooting two people at a Haverhill park over the weekend while a youth baseball game was being played nearby.

The Eagle-Tribune (https://bit.ly/1XwKWbq ) reports that the boy was arrested Monday night and charged with two counts of assault to murder while armed, and several other gun-related charges.

Capt. Robert Pistone says the boy is known to police and the shooting at Swasey Field on Saturday appears to be gang related.

Pistone says Haverhill and state police tracked the suspect for the past two days based on images taken from a surveillance camera at that part of Swasey Field and statements from witnesses.

The shooting victims, a 16-year-old boy and a man in his 20s, are expected to survive. No names have been released.
