AURORA, Colo. (AP) - Aurora police say a 19-year-old man who was shot during a foot chase following a traffic stop pointed a loaded handgun at an officer.

Natnael Gebretsadik fled after the car he was in was pulled over late Sunday night for having a defective tail light. Police say he was shot after he fell and pointed the weapon at an officer.

Gebretsadik, a convicted felon, is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Police say three other people were in the car when it was pulled over. One has been charged with drug possession.

It’s the fourth officer-involved shooting involving the department this month.
