PAOLI, Okla. (AP) - Major delays are expected on southbound Interstate 35 near Paoli on Wednesday as part of ongoing bridge work at the Washita River.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says southbound I-35 will be temporarily closed for up to 20 minutes at a time from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The intermittent closures will be south of Oklahoma Highway 145, or about 50 miles south of Oklahoma City.

Officials say law enforcement will set up roadblocks and drivers should expect significant delays.

Interstate 35 remains narrowed to one lane in each direction at the Washita River for an ongoing bridge replacement.
