JACKSON, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a driver who sped away from a traffic stop in southern Michigan has died after losing control of the SUV he was driving and crashing into a tree.
The Jackson Citizen Patriot reports (https://bit.ly/1sm77Fh ) a Jackson County sheriff’s deputy had stopped the driver Monday but as the deputy approached the SUV the driver took off. Witnesses estimated the SUV was going 60-70 mph before it crashed and burned in Jackson.
Police say they believe the driver died on impact or shortly afterward. His name wasn’t immediately released. State police are investigating.
