FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Fargo Police Chief Dave Todd is adding three officers to the department’s four-person narcotics unit to address a rising number of heroin- and fentanyl-related cases.

Fentanyl is a powerful painkiller than can make heroin more potent. It also can lead to overdoses.

Local law officers also plan to work more with state and federal authorities on enforcement and hold more public forums on drugs to raise awareness.

Cass County Sheriff Paul Laney says, “If you’re going to deal, we’re coming for you.”
