LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities in Southern California have identified the pilot whose body was recovered from a plane crash site in the San Gabriel Mountains.

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office said Tuesday that 57-year-old Thomas Bruff died at the scene of Sunday’s crash.

City News Service reports the body was recovered Monday night.

The single-engine Cessna 182 was flying from Montgomery Field in San Diego to Santa Monica when it crashed into Brown Mountain Sunday morning in cloudy conditions. The last radar contact was around 8:30 a.m.

Recovery efforts were hampered Sunday and most of Monday due to fog.

The site is northeast of Los Angeles, about 4 miles from suburban Altadena.
