ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Police say a 10-year-old boy was struck and run over by a car in Arlington.

Arlington police Sgt. VaNessa Harrison says that a woman was driving about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, when the boy ran into the street. Harrison said that the child was “struck and knocked to the ground and dragged under the car.”

The boy was taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, where authorities say his condition has improved.

Harrison says that the woman in the vehicle left the scene of the incident, but returned after being confronted by a neighbor. She has been arrested and remained in jail Monday on $2,000 bail.
