GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) - Police in Golden say a man was stabbed while trying to defend his home from three intruders who broke into the wrong house.
Investigators say the young men were expecting to find $10,000 in cash and drugs inside the home after they knocked on the door around 9 p.m. Monday. Instead, they pushed their way inside after a woman answered and were soon met by her husband, who began fighting with them and grabbed a knife from the kitchen. He was stabbed by a 21-year-old suspect and he also stabbed the suspect. The husband and the suspect are expected to survive.
The wife left the home, where the couple’s two children were asleep in the basement, to make a frantic 911 call from a neighbor’s.
One suspect is still at large.
