TULLYTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania couple has been arrested after police say the mother and father abused their infant twin daughters so badly the girls could’ve died.
Police say Melissa Shales called 911 in March saying one of her daughter’s was having trouble breathing. Police say they arrived to a squalid apartment that had rounds of ammunition strewn on the floor.
The girls were hospitalized in Philadelphia. Both had broken legs and were malnourished. One had a broken rib and a spinal injury. Doctors told police their injuries weren’t accidental.
Police say Shales admitted doing things to the twins to get a reaction out of her husband, Michael.
Both parents face charges including endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated assault.
