HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Police are investigating after a man and a woman were both fatally shot in a quiet section of Hartford’s South End neighborhood.

Lt. Brandon O’Brien says officers were first called to the scene at Campfield Avenue just before 10:30 p.m. Monday after three shots were fired in the area.

The victims, identified Tuesday morning as 22-year-old Joshua Cortez, of Hartford, and 23-year-old Alysha Ocasio, of Newington, were found on the street and in a car respectively.

Cortez was pronounced dead at the scene and Ocasio died at Hartford Hospital.

There was no word on arrests.

Police are hopeful that they can find a witness to provide more information about what happened.
