CHICKASAW, Ala. (AP) - A Mobile County sheriff’s deputy has been hospitalized following a shooting in Chickasaw - and his wife is being questioned.

Chickasaw Police Department Capt. Tommy McDuffie tells Al.com (https://bit.ly/1WCaDIh) officers responded Monday evening to a domestic disturbance call at a house. A husband and wife were present at the home.

The man, who is a Mobile County sheriff’s deputy, had a gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to a hospital. His current condition is unknown.

McDuffie says that the couple had been arguing, and when the woman tried to leave in her vehicle the husband blocked her with his patrol car. At some point, they both got out and continued arguing when she shot him in the leg with her personal firearm.

Police took the woman in for questioning. The investigation is ongoing.
