NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities say police have rescued three pit bulls being trained for dog fighting on Staten Island.

The Daily News (https://nydn.us/1stYWXY ) reports that a criminal complaint said two of the dogs had “dog fighting scars” on their face, neck and feet.

Police arrested two men who they say were training the animals for dog fighting.

The arrests came after police executed search warrants at two neighboring houses.

The criminal complaints said police also found a loaded gun, drugs and a scale, leading to six additional arrests.

Two of the suspects face animal fighting and animal torture charges. The others face drug and gun charges.
