BENNETTSVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Marlboro County deputies are searching for two people in connection with a slaying at a so-called poker house in the county.

Lt. Jamie Seales tells local media outlets that the shooting happened at a house in Bennettsville about 11 p.m. on Monday.

Authorities say when deputies were called they found 36-year-old Javonta Dease by the door of the house. He was pronounced was dead at the scene.

Deputies say the shooting apparently happened during an attempted robbery. Video from a nearby surveillance camera shows one of the people deputies are seeking.

Authorities say that three years ago deputies and State Law Enforcement Division agents seized several video poker machines at the residence.
