MESA, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a small plane has crashed at Falcon Field Airport in Mesa.
Emergency crews were dispatched at about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Television helicopter footage from the scene shows the aircraft down on Greenfield Road on the west side of the airport.
Authorities say it appears the plane crashed on a road that runs around the perimeter of the airstrip and possibly burst into flames on impact.
It’s not immediately clear how many people were aboard the fixed-wing plane, if there are any survivors or if weather was a factor in the crash.
Falcon Field serves as a reliever to Phoenix Sky Harbor International and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway airports.
