ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis police say the person who shot a man in the leg in a downtown shooting was a boy, probably 12 to 14 years old.

A 27-year-old man was shot early Sunday in a parking lot on North Third Street after being approached by three people. Two of them appeared to be 18 to 22 years old, while the other was described as 12 to 14 years old. The victim told police that the youngest fired the shot that hit him in the leg.

Police say the victim is hospitalized in stable condition. A motive for the shooting is unknown. No arrests have been made.
