MARBLETOWN, N.Y. (AP) - State police say a highway department employee for a Hudson Valley town is in serious condition after he was pinned between two road paving vehicles.

Troopers say Daniel Styles was operating a paver Monday while re-surfacing a road in the Ulster County town of Marbletown, on the eastern border of the Catskill Park 55 miles south of Albany.

Police say Styles was standing on the operating platform when another town worker operating a compacting roller failed to notice the paver had stopped. Troopers say the roller collided with the paver, pinning Styles’ right leg between the two vehicles.

He was airlifted to Albany Medical Center, where troopers say he’s listed in serious but stable condition.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
