LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A new policy on bars in Lafayette’s downtown district likely won’t come until July.

The Advertiser reports (https://bit.ly/1rRjVTW) Lafayette Consolidated Government Planning, Zoning and Development director Carlee Alm-LaBar gave an update on the effort to shape a new policy to the Zoning Commission on Monday.

As a new zoning policy is drafted, she says the department is working with law enforcement through a program called the Knowledge Effect, which researches issues like impaired driving.

The Lafayette City-Parish Council voted to limit the number of bars and clubs downtown in 2003.
