SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Police say a woman is dead after a repossession agent trying to take back her car drove her off the road in Utah.

Pleasant Grove police Lt. Britt Smith says 49-year-old Kenneth Drew was trying to tow the car at about midnight on Tuesday after the woman got behind on a title loan.

Smith says 35-year-old Ashleigh Best confronted the agent, jumped in the Lincoln Navigator and drove away. He followed in his tow truck and ran her off the road several blocks from her house.

Her car hit a tree at speeds of up to 70 mph, killing her.

Police say it’s illegal for repo men to use force, and it’s against the company’s police to chase people. Drew was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

No attorney was immediately listed for Drew in court records.
