LIBERTY, N.Y. (AP) - Twenty-one people have been indicted on federal drug trafficking charges following a drug sweep in upstate New York.
The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports (https://bit.ly/1TZcJ1l ) the defendants were taken into custody and appeared Tuesday in federal court in White Plains.
Prosecutors say in the indictment that the suspects conspired to distribute crack and heroin in a number of locations in Liberty, including a nursing home and a drug recovery center. Investigators say the drug and weapons charges are meant to incapacitate two drug rings that have been selling heroin and crack cocaine in Sullivan County.
It’s unclear if the suspects have entered pleas in the case.
