PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh police are looking for whoever pumped several gunshots into a moving car containing a man, woman and two young children.

Police believe the car was shot shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday in the city’s Hazelwood section. That’s where an undercover officer saw the bullet-riddled car speeding away.

The officer followed the car to the Waterfront shopping complex in neighboring Homestead and found the 26-year-old man has been wounded - but it was later determined he had only shrapnel in his back.

Police say the children may have been hit by flying glass or other debris, but that the children and the woman were not otherwise injured.

Police aren’t releasing the victims’ names and haven’t said whether they know why their car was targeted.
