MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A new overtime pay rule from the Obama administration is getting two different reactions in Wisconsin’s Senate race.

Democrat Russ Feingold says the rule is overdue. He said the current system is unfairly affecting middle and lower income earners and those who deserve overtime should get it.

Sen. Ron Johnson takes a different view, with spokeswoman Paige Atwood saying the senator is working “to block this harmful rule.”

More than 4 million U.S. workers will become eligible for overtime pay under the new rule. The rule seeks to bolster overtime protections eroded in recent decades by inflation.

The Wisconsin chamber of commerce, the League of Wisconsin Municipalities and Wisconsin Counties Association all spoke out against the new rules.
