LOS ANGELES (AP) - Several residential streets are closed as crews clear mud and debris that flowed into lanes and driveways when a water main burst in the Hollywood Hills above the Sunset Strip.
The Los Angeles Fire Department says the broken pipe was reported around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in a neighborhood near West Hollywood known for its winding, steep streets.
The gushing water was quickly stopped but not before it broke loose part of a hillside. Debris, a foot deep in some places, clogged the driveways of several homes. The muck streamed down a few blocks to Sunset Boulevard, which remains open.
There’s no immediate word on when repairs and cleanup will be completed.
