GARNER, Iowa (AP) - A former Hancock County employee and her husband no longer face charges stemming from a bid for county-owned land.

Sharon Rockow had been charged with felonious misconduct in office and forgery. Her husband, Gary Rockow, had been charged with aiding and abetting misconduct in office and forgery.

Investigators say that while Sharon Rockow worked in the engineer’s office, she and her husband delivered a sealed bid in someone else’s name on Sept. 19, 2014, for county property, knowing the bid would later become public record. The county later fired Sharon Rockow.

A judge dismissed the charges last month at the request of a special prosecutor. Court documents say the prosecutor made the motion after reviewing information from pretrial discovery and depositions.

Both Rockows had pleaded not guilty.
