EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (AP) - A federal judge has ruled in favor of a terminally ill college student from East Greenwich seeking to resume a recently discontinued clinical cancer trial.

WPRI-TV reports (https://bit.ly/27y13Kb ) 20-year-old Neil Fachon’s family filed suit against the federal Food and Drug Administration after the agency pulled the treatment 11 days into Fachon’s trial.

The court granted a motion for a temporary restraining order on Tuesday that allows Fachon to continue his trial at the Burzynski Institute in Texas.

Dean Fachon said his son was an engineering student at Northeastern University in Boston when he noticed his vision blurring and he began to experience trouble swallowing and writing.

After receiving a terminal diagnosis, the Fachons found the clinical trial for Neil. He will return to Texas to resume treatment on Wednesday.
