BAY SHORE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a woman and her husband have died after a car they were in smashed through a chain link fence and hit a tree on Long Island.

Newsday reports (https://nwsdy.li/1rT4YRq ) police say Travis Hairston was driving in Bay Shore Tuesday afternoon when the car left the roadway and eventually hit a tree on the lawn of a home.

The 75-year-old Bay Shore woman and her 81-year-old husband, Frank, were taken to an area hospital where police say they died from their injuries.
