DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A July trial has been scheduled for operators of a nature show who have been accused of attempted enticement of a minor.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1rTGAPF ) that Barry Devoll and Christopher Kaiser are accused of attempting to persuade a minor to engage in sex last fall. Devoll also faces six counts of attempted exploitation of a child for the production of pornography.
Kaiser’s attorney, Montgomery Brown, said Wednesday that Kaiser has pleaded not guilty. Devoll’s attorney didn’t immediately return a message from The Associated Press. The trial is set to begin July 5.
IRS filings say Devoll is president of a nonprofit, The Blue Trunk Educational Series, and Kaiser is the organization’s director. It was based in Cedar Falls. The organization sponsors educational shows that include exotic animals.
