PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) - A 27-year-old New Orleans man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Pontiac, northwest of Detroit.

The Oakland County sheriff’s office says Wednesday that deputies were at an apartment complex Tuesday afternoon on an unrelated call and heard gunshots.

Additional deputies were called to the neighborhood and a 30-year-old Pontiac man was found nearby. He had been shot numerous times with a high-powered rifle and later pronounced dead at a hospital.

The suspect was arrested Wednesday and is being held in the county jail. A rifle believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered.
