PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia police are trying to find a man who set fire to a chair on a porch, then shot a man who came to the home’s door to investigate.

Police say the unknown suspect threw some kind of incendiary device that caught the chair on fire. Two people inside the house opened the door and were confronted by a man aiming a gun. They closed the door, but the gunman fired anyway, wounding a 19-year-old man in the chest and abdomen.

He was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.

Police say this all happened about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday.

They’re continuing to look for the gunman and are trying to determine if the fire was set in hopes of luring the man to the door so he could be shot.
