LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police say an apartment building was evacuated after an improvised firework exploded in a man’s hand and officers discovered another suspicious device.

Police say a Tuesday night caller initially reported that a man was injured when a device went off in his hand. They were concerned about a possible second device in a trash can, but later determined that it was not explosive.

Lt. John Liberty says the man had non-life-threatening explosives-related injuries to his hands and was taken to the University Medical Center’s trauma unit.

Police aren’t sure whether the injured man made the device.
