WHITE CLOUD, Mich. (AP) - A police task force is looking into the cold case slaying of a 25-year-old northwestern Michigan man.

State police say Wednesday that its investigators are working with the Newaygo County sheriff’s office and the county prosecutor on the death of Richard Atwood of White Cloud.

Atwood last was seen on Aug. 10, 1983 in White Cloud. He was reported missing 12 days later. His brown, 1975 Pontiac Trans Am was found that October in Grand Rapids.

Police say detectives have continued to follow up on tips in the case. Investigators also believe that advances in forensic science and information technology may generate new leads.
