FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - A Fairbanks man is being held on suspicion of second-degree murder in a stabbing death early Tuesday morning.

Fairbanks police say 23-year-old Charles Peter Yaska turned himself in Wednesday in connection to the death of 28-year-old Claudius Jackson.

Police just before 1 a.m. Tuesday received a report of an assault at a south Fairbanks home.

They found Jackson on the living room floor with stab wounds. He was rushed to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital but died five hours later.

Yaska turned himself in at 1 a.m. Wednesday and was arrested. He had been sought on an unrelated warrant.

Police are seeking to speak to people with knowledge of the stabbing.

Online court records say a charging document is pending but list no attorney for Yaska.
