DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A New Jersey-based multinational corporation is looking to expand its presence in Des Moines with plans to create over 1,000 additional jobs.

Officials with the Iowa Economic Development Authority say Thursday that Cognizant Technology Solutions, an information and technology company, plans to expand office space in downtown Des Moines and hire 1,014 people.

The $14 million project submitted to the Iowa board includes leasing about 50,000 square feet of office space at the Two Ruan Center in Des Moines and space in two buildings that will be constructed on the southern edge of downtown.

The company is requesting $812,000 from the state through a high quality jobs program.

Company officials didn’t immediately respond to phone and email messages requesting comment.
