HURON, S.D. (AP) - The Huron School Board has been forced to remove one of its members because he moved to a home just a few hundred feet outside of the school district.

Sherman Gose tells KOKK radio that his family bought a home in the country after winning an auction bid - but it’s just outside the district boundary. He calls it a disappointing fluke.

A former board member has been named as Gose’s replacement. Gose says he might be able to return to his seat if officials can work out some sort of land swap with the neighboring school district this summer.
