JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - The Jonesboro Advertising and Promotion Commission has tabled a request for a tax rebate for a planned convention center and hotel at Arkansas State University.

The panel decided Wednesday to delay voting on the request from O’Reilly Hospitality Management, which plans to build an Embassy Suites hotel and 40,000-square-foot convention center on the university’s campus.

O’Reilly had asked that the commission rebate the 3 percent hotel tax that would be generated by the hotel for five years, beginning in 2018. The Jonesboro Sun reports (https://bit.ly/1YF8yZU ) the commission decided to table the request until late next year, closer to when the facilities will be ready to open.

In March, the Advertising and Promotion Commission approved incentives for a separate hotel and convention center project that will also be built in Jonesboro.
