LANSING, Mich. (AP) - A 24-year-old Lansing woman who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of her 2-month-old son has been sentenced to 27½ to 60 years in prison.

The Lansing State Journal reports (https://on.lsj.com/1W3W8Nq ) Alexandra Alexi on Wednesday learned her punishment after earlier pleading guilty to the murder charge and first-degree child abuse. Alexi told the court that she takes full responsibility for what happened to her son but said she is “not a murderer.”

According to an autopsy report, Julian Alexi’s 2014’s death was caused by complications from head trauma. He also had numerous broken bones.

Ingham County Circuit Court Judge William Collette says he’s “still amazed at the brutality and the lack of remorse you’ve shown in this case.”
