ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A trial is underway for a 31-year-old Rochester man who fatally shot another man inside a suburban bar last year during a shootout that left six others wounded.
David Alligood’s trial on a second-degree murder charge got underway Wednesday in a Rochester court. Prosecutors say the gunfire erupted after Alligood got into an argument with a woman at the Gates Pub in the town of Gates early on the morning of April 25, 2015.
Authorities say he then pulled out a gun and started firing, killing 37-year-old Ricky Jones. Police say Jones also had a gun and used it in self-defense. Officials say some of those wounded in the crowded bar were hit by bullets fired by Jones.
The trial is expected to last about three weeks.
