NEW YORK (AP) - New York City has agreed to pay $14 million to resolve a federal lawsuit alleging that commercial delivery trucks were improperly issued parking tickets.
The money will be divided among hundreds of companies that are members of the New York Trucking and Delivery Association.
The settlement must still be approved by Judge Nicholas Garaufis (GEHR’-ah-fuhs).
The issue arose after traffic agents began giving double-parked trucks more costly tickets for obstructing a traffic lane.
The Daily News https://nydn.us/1TJei0J ) says those tickets can only be issued in certain areas if there’s an open parking space within 100 feet or if the truck is double parked for more than 30 minutes without visible activity.
The city, which admitted no liability, says the settlement is in the best interest of all parties.
