NEW YORK (AP) - A New York City Girl Scout troop has donated 100 percent of its cookie profits - about $4,000 - to help formerly homeless veterans.
Troop 3484 is comprised of 17 fourth-graders from The Dalton School .
It’s made the donation through the Mayor’s Office of Veterans Affairs .
The troop also is launching Project “Welcome Home.”
The girls are asking companies and organizations - with the help of fellow New Yorkers - to provide household items for veterans who’ve been placed in permanent housing.
They hope to create housewarming baskets for 100 veterans before the end of the school year.
