MERIDIAN, Miss. (AP) - A Meridian official says he is upset that the city’s ordinance regarding saggy pants does not seem to be getting enforced.

The Meridian Star reports (https://bit.ly/1TJ5QOQ ) Tony Harper questioned the Meridian City Council on Tuesday about the city’s indecent exposure ordinance, which was passed in April 2011 and targets people who wear their pants three inches or more below their waist.

When asked how many citations have been issued in the five years since the ordinance was passed, Council President Randy Hammon’s response was “little to none,” a fact that he says has left the council “displeased.”

The council also said that violators have not worked any community service hours since the law was passed.
