LEECHBURG, Pa. (AP) - A western Pennsylvania school district isn’t renewing the contract of the boys’ basketball coach in the wake of hazing allegations.

Police and the Leechburg Area School District investigated the allegations that allegedly involved the use of a stick in a sexually suggestive manner, but no criminal charges resulted. The allegations stretched back a decade and the district has refused to release its internal report on the incident.

The school board voted 5-3 Wednesday not to renew the contract of Coach Damian Davies. Davies and his attorney have denied Davies knew anything about the hazing, and say parents never reported any problems to Davies. He remains a social studies teacher at the high school about 35 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

Acting school superintendent Frank Prazenica says the move was meant to provide a safe environment for students.
