NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) - Rutgers University has settled a lawsuit by a former men’s basketball player with learning disabilities for $300,000.
Derrick Randall accused former Coach Mike Rice of abusing him and the player alleged accommodations that the university had made for him only fueled Rice’s actions.
Rice was fired in 2013 after videos showed him throwing basketballs at players and using slurs.
Under terms of the settlement, the university and any parties named in the suit admitted no wrongdoing.
Randall transferred to Pittsburgh after Rice’s firing.
