BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A proposal to bar convicted sex offenders from working as door-to-door salesmen in Louisiana is headed to the governor’s desk.
The Senate unanimously supported the measure Wednesday, giving it final passage with a 37-0 vote. The House also unanimously supported the measure.
If Gov. John Bel Edwards agrees to the bill, violators would face prison sentences up to 10 years and a fine up to $10,000.
Sex offenders already can’t drive a bus or taxi in Louisiana or work in an industry that requires going into someone’s home to provide a service.
