SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Public services begin this weekend in San Antonio for Grammy-winning Tejano star Emilio Navaira (nah-VY’-rah).

Navaira, whose fans knew him simply as Emilio, was found unresponsive by his family Monday night at his home in New Braunfels. Police say Navaira died of apparent natural causes. He was 53.

Castle Ridge Mortuary in San Antonio says visitation will be Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT at Freeman Coliseum. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. at the sports and entertainment venue that seats more than 9,000.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday at San Fernando Cathedral in San Antonio.
