NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Severe weather is in the forecast for southern Louisiana.
The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, says strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Thursday mainly across parts of south through southeast Texas into southwest Louisiana.
National Weather Service Forecaster Tim Humphreys in Lake Charles says a strong upper level disturbance will move into southwest Louisiana late Thursday afternoon and evening.
Humphreys says the system will move along the Interstate 10 corridor bringing strong winds up to 60 mph, hail and the possibility of isolated tornadoes.
He says the storms will move eastward toward the New Orleans metro area late Thursday night into Friday.
Humphreys says the heavy rain could cause flooding in some locations.
